Benny Goodman and His Sextet – I Got Rhythm (1945-1946)

Benny Goodman Sextet - I Got Rhythm (1945-1946)

When jazz blended with dance forms becoming swing-jazz, in terms of commercial success it was virtually synonymous with Pop music. Benny Goodman was a major band leader of his era. Swing-jazz in the 1940s was dominating the jukeboxes and their band leaders (Tommy Dorsey, Fletcher Henderson, Jimmie Lunceford, Artie Shaw to mention just a few) attained a very similar Hollywood-star status. Goodman was nicknamed the “King of Swing” and he certainly achieved a high rank within the cultural musical history of United States. Featuring in this recording legends such as Red Norvo on the Vibraphone and Teddy Wilson on Piano.
