The 75th Anniversary of The Battle of Britain

Yesterday, 20th September 2015, thousands of people have followed in the streets of London the commemorations that mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Ordinary people from all over the country, from different cultural backgrounds and generations lined together with the war veterans to offer the chance to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women that defended the country from the Luftwaffe attacks in the 1940s. These events should not be simply seen only as war remembrance days, rather a tribute to uplifting the value of freedom and the refusal to go into another war again. Prince Charles has watched a special flypast of Spitfires and Hurricane as well as attending the ceremony at the Westminster Abbey.

Music has always played a pivotal role during these hard times, providing entertainment, uplifting the spirit and reflection and relief during the most of dangerous and difficult times ever. The aim of these collections is not only to remind us of these passionate moving melodies but to associate this music to our cultural heritage. The sound of this era will have it’s place as a milestone to encourage international peace and respect for human rights. Enjoy this selection and share these unforgettable moments of musical history.
