Jazz at War - Sound of the Big Bands in WWII

Like many music lovers of this generation, we all are aware that the music of the 1940s had a tremendous passion for both the emotional songwriting and atmosphere. In these times the word jazz was an umbrella term that would cover many influences of dance, swing and waltz. The use of polyrhythm and syncopation decked with the silvery timbre of the horns section shaped the sound of great bands like The Modernaires, Artie Shaw, Joe Loss and their orchestras; displaying visceral beats and dynamic rhythms that have formed foundations of many other genres of the post-war years.
